Get to know us - Jeannie Slone
Hi, I’m Jeannie Slone and I am now in my fifth year teaching in Alameda. I started at Maya Lin school teaching Transitional Kindergarten (TK) the year our district launched that program. After three years, my TK class was set to move to Ruby Bridges. Well, I moved but the class did not (low enrollment that year). So, I was offered the opportunity to stay here and teach first grade. What a great move! The staff is amazing and the children give me a reason to smile every day.
When I am not at school, I am hanging out with my family in Walnut Creek. My husband and I met 34 years ago when I was a tour guide at Winchester Mystery House in San Jose (where I was born and raised). Our daughter, Kate, is 14 and just started high school (YIKES!)
Teaching has always been a part of me, and I am happy to be able to spend time with children as they grow confidence in their learning ability. Before teaching, I had a career in high tech marketing communications with various data and telecommunications companies.
I enjoy belonging to the Ruby Bridges community and am excited about teaching 4th grade this year.
