Title 1 Coordinator and Reading Interventionist

I began my teaching career here in Alameda in 1996 and have taught Kindergarten, first grade, and all other grades in my role as Title 1 Coordinator and Reading Interventionist here at Ruby Bridges. Because of my love for teaching reading, I furthered my education by earning my Master of Science in Education degree as well as my California Reading Specialist Credential.  I love that as a teacher, I am able to model for my students, my commitment to and love of learning and what it means to be a life-long learner.

As Ruby Bridges Title 1 Coordinator and Reading Interventionist, I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with all teachers and students from Kindergarten through fifth grade in the area of reading. I work with small groups of students who need a boost in reading skills that include the following: letter sounds/symbols, sight words, decoding, writing, fluency, and comprehension. The idea behind the reading intervention that I provide is simple:  identify learning needs, provide targeted, systematic small-group instruction based on those needs, assess growth and learning, and exit students after learning goals are met.

I look forward to working along side with families, teachers, and most importantly your children this year!
